TYPES OF FABRICS & LEATHERS
• Micro Suede or Micro Denier Suede
Fabrics manufactured with a brushed or napped finish to resemble suede leather. These fabrics provide a similar look and feel to suede, but have the advantages of stain resistance, durability, and are easy to clean. Micro suedes are also a perfect substitute for consumers that prefer a non-animal product.
• Bonded Leather
Bonded leather is a material composed of 80% to 100% leather fibers (often waste scraps from leather tanneries or leather workshops). The fibers are bonded together with latex binders into a fibrous mat. The look and feel is similar to that of genuine leather but at a fraction of the cost. A "grain-like" pattern is usually embossed to enhance the look.
• Leather
Leather is a natural material created through the tanning of hides and skins of animals, primarily cattle hide. The tanning process converts the skin into a durable, long-lasting and versatile natural material for a variety of uses. Considering all it has to offer, it’s no wonder that leather is so popular. It’s naturally handsome. It’s stronger than any other known upholstery material. Its durability makes it a great choice for households with children and pets. It works beautifully when mixed with furnishings covered in other materials. And because it’s a natural material, it ages beautifully.
• LeatherPlus
If you love the look of leather but want to watch your budget, our LeatherPlus upholstery is the perfect alternative. LeatherPlus puts 100% top grain leather everywhere your body touches, with perfectly matched vinyl everywhere else.
• Woven jacquard
A "jacquard" is any textile woven on a jacquard loom. These looms can weave complex floral or geometric patterns with single or multiple colors of yarn of any fiber content. There are a variety of different types of jacquards based on depth, surface texture, weight and pattern
• Velvet
Velvet is a soft fabric with a smooth, dense pile and luster, creating brilliant rich colors. Many velvets manufactured for furniture applications are made from synthetic fibers. Synthetic velvets are engineered with fine count micro-denier polyester fibers and utilize state-of-the-art cut pile and tip shearing processing.
• Chenille
Chenille fabric is named for the unique process in which it is made. It is manufactured by wrapping short lengths of fabric, called "piles," around a tightly wound core of yarn. The edges of these piles then stand at right angles from the yarn’s core, giving chenille both its softness and its characteristic look. Chenille can appear iridescent without actually using iridescent fibers. The yarn is commonly manufactured from cotton, but can also be made using acrylic, rayon and olefin.
